The Periodic Table

For most of his adult life, Design Observer co-founder William Drenttel collected everything he could get his hands on regarding the design and execution of the periodic table — the stranger the better. His collection veers from the sublime (he routinely sought out anything by the legendary physicist Dmitri Mendeleev) to the ridiculous (he also included Periodic tables of cereal, beer and sex) in order to build a collection that fully represented the range of this rich topic. The collection was donated to Yale following Bill's untimely death in 2013, and some of the highlights are on display at the Yale School of Medicine through mid-October. More here.
