New Horizons

Despite the shortcomings of its website covering the New Horizons mission to Pluto NASA made a stunning GIF of Pluto coming into focus from the New Horizons probe.

Jessica talked about our pixillated first glimpses of the erstwhile ninth planet from this decade-long mission:
So you're looking at this thing that could be a blob of chewing gum on the sidewalk. But they felt a need to share this. And I thought there was something very humbling about that.
On this episode, Jessica sits in the studio of Andrew Howard to talk about the Porto Design Summer School, where students from around the world explore editorial design for two weeks, and also about how travel opens new horizons for designers.

Also mentioned on this episode:
  • Fast and Light to Pluto, a New York Times video.
  • New Horizons coverage from the Times and Wired
