Chaim Bermant, Jerico Sleeps Alone and Berl Makes Tea
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1966

“This 2-in-1 book, with the second novel upside down, and its title repeated upside down on the title page in shadowy letters, was a lot of fun, just like the novels themselves. Two titles on the spine (one of them always upside down), the publisher’s imprint in a circle in the middle (unreadable in either direction), ribald elements of the bookjacket combined with the staid, conventional paper pattern printed on cloth, and repeated between the two novels with the instruction ‘Flip for …’, two ‘top’ stains—a real pleasure. Unsolved only is the problem of different head margins for each novel. (Does this volume count as one entry, or as two?)”
